Day 3 Itinerary
Travel to Luxor & Sightseeing
Giza gets a lot of attention since its home to the Great pyramids. Luxor, however, is every bit as stunning and jam-packed with ancient treasures. Once the site of the city of Thebes, it is now known as “the world’s greatest open-air museum.”
Board a short flight from Cairo to Luxor.
Explore the stunning Karnak Temple. It was, at its peak, the largest and most important religious complex in ancient Egypt. The most significant structures within Karnak include the temple of Amun-Ra and the avenue of ram sphinxes. The temple complex displays some colorful hieroglyphics, statues, and 2 obelisks. Tickets can be purchased at the entry point.
Next head to the Luxor Temple. This beautiful temple is located right in the center of modern day Luxor. The statues and pillars here are very well persevered and amazing to see. Tickets can be purchased at the entry point. I’d recommend going just before sunset. It’s beautiful to see the temple with the sun out and again at night when it is all lit up.
