Antigua Activities

Sting Ray City

One of the coolest things you can do in Antigua is swim with wild stingrays! Sting ray city is a sandbar located away from shore, with waist deep water, that is only accessible by boat. The sting rays here are used to being fed and being around people. Since they are wild, these stingrays have their barbs however, stingrays are friendly and gentle in nature and being in the water with them is safe. There are local guides that accompany visitors on the boat and in the water to guide you through the experience. You can watch them be fed, snorkel with them in the water, and even hold them. Tip: shuffle your feet when walking through the water to avoid stepping on the stingrays since they sometimes lay on the ocean floor. You can book this experience here.

Shirley Heights Lookout

This UNESCO Heritage Site is a restored military lookout and gun battery dating back to 1788. Today, it offers the best views of the island. This is an incredible place to watch the sunset and take in views of Nelson’s Dockyard. I would highly recommend going here on a Sunday as they have a live steel drum band and live, local music. This is also a great spot to try Caribbean foods such as jerk chicken & pork. Best way to get here is by taxi and tickets are sold at the entrance, no need to purchase in advance.

Xtreme Circumnav Tour

This speed boat tour, through Adventure Antigua, takes you around the entire island with different stops along the way. It stops at Hell’s Gate, Rendezvous Beach, Nelson’s Dockyard, Green Island and Pillars of Hercules. It also stops at Stingray City so don’t book it seperatley if you do this tour. The tour runs from 8:00-4:00 and includes lunch. You can book here. These stops are the best things to see in Antigua so defenitley consider seeing them on their own if you don’t do the tour.

Sunset Boat Tour

Antigua has incredible sunsets and a boat tour can be a great way to see them. There is a great tour that leaves from St. James Club resort but many hotels have something similar depending on where you stay!
